Thomas & Chess on Behavioral Individuality

Alexander Thomas and Stella Chess discuss temperament qualities in children.

About Behavioral-Developmental Initiatives

Behavioral-Developmental Initiatives is a project started in 1996 to promote understanding of behavioral individuality among the parenting and professional public. It was established collaboratively by two psychologists, Dr. Sean C. McDevitt and Dr. Robin L. Hegvik, but is now administered exclusively by the first author. Dr. Hegvik maintains a similar, but unrelated project called Temperametrics.

This website is intended as a clearinghouse for research and practical information about temperamental characteristics to be used by parents, students, professionals and others who have an interest in behavioral individuality.

B-DI now includes this website, the publishing and distribution operations as well as etesting.center, an electronic resource for clnicians who work with patients or clients in behavioral health settings. B-DI is supported by newsletter subcriptions, sales of books, temperament questionnaires and software products. It accepts no advertising or other external support. Note that purchases support ongoing development of B-DI products and publications.
